Guido Rodriguez’s West Ham future takes another dramatic turn
The Argentine midfielder started in West Ham’s disappointing opening-day defeat to Sunderland in the Premier League, and already, just a year after his arrival, speculation over his future has intensified.

Juventus enter the picture
Reports have suggested that West Ham could even terminate Rodriguez’s contract early to facilitate a return to Real Betis, who are keen to bring him back after his four-year spell with the Andalusian club prior to his Premier League move. A switch back to La Liga has seemed the most likely outcome in recent weeks.
However, the situation has shifted again with Italian giants Juventus now showing interest. According to Turin-based outlet Tuttosport, Juve’s general manager Damien Comolli is seriously considering Rodriguez as a reinforcement option in midfield, adding another twist to an already complicated saga.
Why West Ham must move him on
Rodriguez’s poor showing in the Carabao Cup loss to Wolves only strengthened the case for his departure.
His lack of mobility was glaring, and a clumsy penalty concession highlighted once more that he is not suited to the demands of Premier League football.
His involvement last season under Potter was minimal, with only seven league appearances amounting to 331 minutes, compared to the 16 games he featured in under Julen Lopetegui before the managerial change.
Signed on a free transfer last summer, the Argentine has simply failed to adapt to life in England’s top flight.
Midfield has been a problem area for the Hammers for several seasons, yet it remains under-addressed.
With Edson Álvarez already moving on, the club should act decisively and allow Rodriguez to follow suit.
