Michael Beale, Rangers’ previous manager, openly admired the 25-year-old Australian, suggesting that Souttar might seek a new club in the upcoming transfer window to revive his career. Recently, Souttar was seen wearing a retro Rangers shirt while on holiday, fueling rumors about a potential move to Glasgow. This image generated excitement among fans on social media. Current Rangers manager Philippe Clement is looking to strengthen his squad and might consider Souttar as a reinforcement.
Souttar has expressed uncertainty about his future after Leicester’s boss Enzo Maresca left to manage Chelsea. He now has to wait to discuss his future with Maresca’s successor. Souttar stated, “It’d be very clear if Enzo Maresca was still there, my situation; to try and leave the club and get more minutes because I’ve lost out on a lot of football. To still be selected for the national team I know I need to be playing football.”
He added, “I just have to wait to see what the club does and who comes in and then try to impress the new manager. When I get back for pre-season, we’ll probably have a sit-down after a few weeks and have a chat to see where we’re at. I think that’s the best thing to do. Obviously, we don’t have a manager yet. So, I don’t know and I can’t comment or speculate on who it’s going to be. But I’ve just got to give myself the best shot of trying to impress him and the staff that will come in as well. We’ll just go from there.”
Souttar’s limited game time at Leicester has been a concern, and his potential move to Rangers could provide the regular play he needs to remain in contention for the Australian national team. His recent appearance in a Rangers shirt suggests that the player is open to the idea of moving to Glasgow, although much depends on the new management at Leicester City. The upcoming pre-season will be crucial for Souttar as he aims to secure a place either at Leicester under the new manager or at a new club where he can get more playing time.
