£15m Southampton Defender Set to Leave, West Ham Keen on Signing – Report

West Ham Begin Compiling Summer Transfer Targets, with Harwood-Bellis on Their Radar

West Ham had a relatively quiet winter transfer window, with Evan Ferguson being their only signing at the London Stadium.

However, the summer is expected to be a different story, following what has been a disappointing season for the Irons.

Their recent 1-0 victory away to Arsenal was just their second under Graham Potter, who took charge in January, highlighting the need for reinforcements when the transfer window reopens.

West Ham Target £15m Move for Taylor Harwood-Bellis

According to The Sun on Sunday (23 February, pg. 55), West Ham are looking to “rescue” Taylor Harwood-Bellis, with Southampton seemingly destined for relegation to the Championship.

Centre-back depth has been a concern for the Irons, and they have identified the Saints defender as a key target for the summer.

Harwood-Bellis is reportedly open to a move and could be available for around £15 million if West Ham decide to make an offer.

The Hammers were previously linked with the former Manchester City defender before his switch to Southampton, and their interest appears to remain strong ahead of the next transfer window.

Crucial Summer Ahead for West Ham

With West Ham spending much of the season battling to stay clear of danger, the need for summer reinforcements has become increasingly pressing.

Despite boasting a squad that, on paper, should be performing much better, several areas require strengthening—one of which is centre-back.

Signing Harwood-Bellis would be a sensible move, even though Southampton have endured a difficult campaign.

The former Man City defender has been one of the few consistent performers in the Saints’ squad, and if West Ham can secure a deal, his addition could significantly bolster their defensive options.
