Will Osula Eager for Bigger Role at Newcastle United Next Season

Will Osula is determined to secure more first-team minutes at Newcastle United as he aims to make a significant impact in the upcoming season.

The 21-year-old forward was signed by the Magpies last summer in a £15 million deal from Sheffield United, after impressing assistant coach Jason Tindall during a short spell at Bramall Lane.

Despite the investment, Osula has yet to receive a real opportunity to shine in Newcastle colours.

Last season, he made 19 appearances across all competitions, with only three of those being starts—and all came in domestic cup fixtures against lower-tier sides.

Nevertheless, Osula still managed to score twice: once in the FA Cup third-round clash against Bromley and again in a Premier League fixture against Ipswich Town.

Currently on international duty with Denmark’s Under-21 team at the European Championship, Osula has showcased his attacking prowess with three goals and one assist in just two appearances.

His standout performance came in a thrilling 2-1 win over the Netherlands, where he netted a brace to help his side come from behind.

Osula Determined to Prove Himself at Newcastle

Following his impressive form on the international stage, Osula spoke to Bold and expressed his strong desire for regular playing time at Newcastle.

With Callum Wilson expected to leave when his contract expires on June 30, the Magpies will need to find reliable cover for Alexander Isak.

While the club is reportedly pursuing Brighton’s Joao Pedro, Osula is eager to seize the opportunity himself.

“I just need to get playing time to show what I can do,” Osula said. “It means something to me. I already know what I’m capable of—only my father and I truly know. When I get minutes on the pitch, everyone will see.”

Jason Tindall Sees Shades of Callum Wilson in Osula

Assistant manager Jason Tindall has long been a fan of Osula’s potential, even likening him to a young Callum Wilson earlier in the year.

Tindall spoke highly of the striker’s natural attributes and character, suggesting that patience will pay off.

“His raw pace reminds me so much of a young Callum Wilson,” Tindall explained. “He makes excellent runs behind defences, he’s a goalscorer, physically impressive, and has a top attitude. When you’re as young as Will, you’ve got enormous potential.

“Will’s development here has been really positive. Like other young players we’ve brought in—such as Lewis Hall and Tino Livramento—he’s getting intensive work on the training ground. We believe that when his chance comes, he’ll be ready to grab it.”

No Loan Plans for the Talented Forward

Despite external calls for Osula to gain experience through a loan move, Newcastle appear committed to integrating him into the first-team setup. Back in April, Tindall confirmed the club’s stance on the matter.

“We’ve got no plans to send Will out on loan,” he said. “He’s an important member of our squad at the moment. And in football, things can change rapidly.

“We’ve seen it many times in our coaching careers—not just here. With young players, it’s natural for them to get impatient or frustrated.

But the key is staying grounded, continuing to work hard every day, and letting their efforts on the training ground prepare them for their opportunity.”

With a bright start to the summer and a key vacancy opening up in Newcastle’s attacking ranks, Osula could be on the verge of a breakthrough campaign if given the chance to prove himself on the Premier League stage.
