£21m Star ‘On His Way’ to Leicester City Despite Interest from Ligue 1

The Foxes are still recovering from the significant loss of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who left Leicester City to re-join Enzo Maresca at Chelsea.

Since his departure, Steve Cooper’s team has been actively seeking to strengthen their midfield and attacking options ahead of the 2024/25 Premier League campaign.

This effort has seen the acquisition of experienced attacker Bobby De Cordova-Reid. Additionally, a permanent deal for Issahaku Fatawu was secured following his impressive loan spell and pivotal role in Leicester City’s promotion from the Championship.

Cooper has set his sights high in recent efforts to enhance the squad, including a pursuit of Argentinian Matias Soule, who ultimately chose to stay in Serie A, moving from Juventus to Roma.

Although the Foxes were unlucky in their recent negotiations for one South American talent, they have made progress with another. It appears they have found a promising winger likely to join ahead of the new season.

Colombian Winger Yaser Asprilla ‘On His Way’ to Leicester City

Leicester City are reportedly close to finalizing a deal for Colombian and Watford star Yaser Asprilla. According to Sebastien Denis on X, the 20-year-old winger is ‘on his way’ to Leicestershire, despite a concrete approach from Stade Rennais.

Leicester City recently faced competition from Champions League side Porto and Ligue 1 outfit Rennes for the attacker, but the Foxes have now emerged as the favorites to sign him. The deal is expected to be around £21 million for the player, who has six caps for Colombia.

Steve Cooper Faces Race Against Time for Attacking Reinforcements

The Foxes have struggled throughout the summer transfer window, chasing elusive deals and ending up short-handed across the pitch.

Defensively, they appear solid, though a few full-back additions would be beneficial. However, the midfield and attack still require significant improvements.

Securing a deal for Asprilla promptly will allow Leicester City to pursue additional targets more effectively, rather than letting this negotiation drag on.

Delaying this deal could have a domino effect on future transfers and their quest for a midfielder, potentially disrupting Cooper’s plans. Therefore, it is crucial for the Foxes to expedite the pursuit of Asprilla.

By acting quickly, Leicester City can avoid potential setbacks and ensure they are well-prepared for the upcoming Premier League season.
