As much as Moyes has looked to outside signings, he also continues to lean on Everton’s proud tradition of nurturing homegrown players.

 

One name attracting growing excitement is Harrison Armstrong, an 18-year-old midfielder who has already had a taste of first-team action.

 

Armstrong was included on the bench for Everton’s thrilling win over Wolves before sealing a loan move to Preston North End for the season.

 

Early footage shared by Preston highlighted his skill, composure, and vision, qualities that have already seen him compared stylistically to Grealish.

 

In his limited senior appearances for Everton—just eight so far—he has managed to tally three assists.

 

For the club’s youth teams, he added ten more goal contributions across the U19 and U21 levels.

 

Former Derby County boss John Eustace, who previously worked with Armstrong during a loan spell, described him as “phenomenal,” a label that reflects the high regard in which he is held.

 

His versatility also adds to his appeal; while naturally a central midfielder, Armstrong is equally comfortable operating from wide areas, much like Grealish.

 

This adaptability makes him an intriguing prospect for Moyes in the years to come.

 

For now, regular first-team football in the Championship should aid Armstrong’s development.

 

History shows that the EFL can provide the perfect proving ground, with Grealish himself sharpening his craft at that level, scoring 14 goals and delivering 16 assists before becoming a Premier League star.
