Brock Purdy and Caitlin Clark are emerging stars in the sports realm, but their connection might not be widely known. Caitlin, who recently shattered the NCAA women’s scoring record as a standout for the Hawkeyes, hails from Des Moines, Iowa. On the other hand, Purdy gained recognition at Iowa State University, where Caitlin’s brother Blake Clark served as the backup quarterback.

Beyond their roles as quarterbacks, Purdy and Blake forged a close friendship during their time together. In fact, Blake is set to attend Purdy’s wedding this offseason, underscoring the strong bond they share. Purdy opened up about this friendship during Super Bowl week when asked about Caitlin.

“So Blake Clark is a great friend of mine, he’s going to be at my wedding,” Purdy mentioned to Austin Franklin (h/t The Mirror). “He’s the man, yeah I love him, he was one of my best friends for four years at Iowa State.”

While Purdy didn’t interact with Caitlin as frequently, their connection through Blake allowed him to witness her talent firsthand. Reflecting on Caitlin’s journey from high school to her current success, Purdy expressed his happiness for her accomplishments.

It’s a testament to the intertwined nature of their Iowa roots that Purdy has a connection to the Clark family. Just as Caitlin has gained widespread recognition both in Iowa and nationally, Purdy has also made a name for himself. Initially as a standout four-year starter at Iowa State, where he set numerous passing records, and later as a key player for the San Francisco 49ers, leading them to Super Bowl LVIII while setting franchise records along the way.
