Leicester City Face Championship Return with Managerial Uncertainty Looming
Ruud van Nistelrooy was appointed mid-season to help Leicester City avoid relegation, but he was ultimately unable to achieve that goal.
Despite this, he has been allowed to remain in charge until the end of the campaign, although a change is expected in the summer.
With Van Nistelrooy likely to depart, several candidates have been linked to the role, including Sean Dyche.
The 53-year-old has been without a managerial role since being dismissed by Everton earlier this season. However, he is not expected to join Leicester.
According to Foxes of Leicester, Dyche has ruled himself out of contention.
Speaking on Sky Sports’ Stick to Football podcast, he stated he’s not considering a return to management right now.
“Not at the moment. The timing is wrong anyway. Not my timing, but clubs are going to have this time to see what they’re doing and all that sort of stuff.
I got offered a couple of things straight away and I just said: ‘No, that’s not for me now.’ Then I wait and see what comes. You never say never,” he explained.
Since leaving Everton, Dyche has attracted attention from various clubs, which is no surprise given his experience. However, he seems to be enjoying a break from the pressures of football management for the time being.
As a result, if Leicester move on from Van Nistelrooy at the end of the 2024–25 Premier League season, they will need to explore alternative options for the managerial position.
