Reports suggest Leicester is currently the front-runner, but there’s a significant hurdle: Arsenal prefers a full transfer, while Leicester would rather a loan with an option to buy due to potential relegation concerns.
West Ham is reportedly no longer in the running, as they cannot afford to sign Reiss Nelson at this time.
No formal bid has been made for Nelson yet, and this may remain the case if Arsenal insists on a sale rather than a loan.
Arsenal cannot guarantee Nelson regular first-team football, but he needs consistent playing time to develop.
Leicester is unlikely to pursue Jordan Ayew or Reo Hatate, as neither would significantly improve the squad. Bouba Soumare, who played for Sevilla last season, is a better option than Hatate.
Similarly, Kasey McAteer, Patson Daka, and Bobby De Cordova-Reid are all superior to Ayew, being younger and already part of the team.
Another potential recruit is OH Leuven midfielder Mandela Keita, currently impressing on loan at Royal Antwerpen.
However, bringing in Keita or Hatate doesn’t make much sense as they would be behind existing players in the pecking order.
Leicester needs an offensive midfielder and a flank alternative, making Reiss Nelson an ideal addition.
Other creative players like Columbia international Ramon Rosa, free agent Brahima Diarra, or Matt O’Reilly could also provide the necessary creativity to drive the team forward.
