Danny Ings’ 95th-minute equalizer against Fulham wasn’t just a stroke of luck.
The Englishman has been in good form since the start of the year, and he’s been unfortunate not to have scored more in the past nine months.
Despite his improved performances and West Ham signing Niclas Fullkrug, it’s clear that the No. 9 position remains an area where the club could upgrade.
Both Ings and Michail Antonio are out of contract at the end of the season, but they might not even see out their deals.
According to Football Insider, West Ham may consider selling both strikers in January to bring in a new forward as soon as possible.
If true, this suggests a lot about manager Julen Lopetegui’s view of the two players and, more tellingly, his dissatisfaction with Fullkrug.
While the hope remains that one of these three strikers will start scoring consistently, a failure to do so could result in Ings and Antonio leaving the club soon, and Fullkrug potentially being relegated to a backup role behind any new addition.
