Leeds United’s Penalty Taker Situation Resolved Quickly with Clear Decision

Leeds United head coach Daniel Farke is willing to give Pascal Struijk another chance as the club’s penalty taker, despite his miss in the match against Cardiff City.

The defender, who is also the vice captain, stepped up to take the penalty when designated taker Joel Piroe was unavailable but failed to convert with a weak effort in the second half.

There were questions regarding why none of the attacking players, particularly starting forward Mateo Joseph, took the penalty instead.

With Piroe not guaranteed a starting position this season, Farke was asked whether alternative options should be considered.

However, Farke is unconcerned about the penalty situation, indicating that Struijk will likely continue in the role. He stated, “We won’t make a decision based on that game.

I would definitely trust Struijk to score the next one; his overall record was nine out of nine before this.”

He added, “Now it’s nine out of ten, which is still pretty good. If he’s at the penalty spot again, he’ll definitely have my trust.

But if a player like Joel Piroe is on the pitch, who is our main taker, we’ll see who is available for the next penalty.”

Farke is known for not making hasty changes after a single mistake, so expect Struijk to retain penalty duties unless Piroe is on the field.
