Ange Postecoglou would be wise to keep an eye on Tottenham Under-18s midfielder Jamel Beggs.
Tottenham Hotspur has a number of talented young players emerging from their academy in North London, giving manager Ange Postecoglou a wealth of options for promotion to the first team.
Several of these promising youngsters have recently signed long-term contracts, enhancing the club’s future prospects.
Among those making a mark are Mikey Moore and Lucá Williams-Barnett, but there are also lesser-known players making significant strides at Hotspur Way.
Midfielder Jamel Beggs has started all eight matches for Spurs’ Under-18 Premier League team this season and recently scored his first goal for the club, even though the team ultimately lost the match.
In a match on October 26, Stuart Lewis’ team surrendered a 2-0 lead, losing 3-2 to West Bromwich Albion’s Under-18s at Hotspur Way.
Despite the defeat, there were positives, including Beggs’ goal and a solid performance from Reiss Elliott-Parris.
The absence of three regular starters, who were on England Under-17 duty, partially contributed to the result.
Postecoglou and his coaching staff will be pleased to see other players stepping up in the absence of their key players, despite the narrow loss.
With Beggs still a few weeks away from his 17th birthday and already making an impact at the Under-18 level, he represents yet another exciting talent for Postecoglou to monitor as he looks to build a competitive squad.
