Chris Sutton, a former player and current pundit, believes that West Ham was fortunate to secure a victory against Manchester United last weekend.

He noted that, despite winning, West Ham should have been well behind by halftime.

Sutton made these comments while reporting for BBC Sport, stating that he thinks the Hammers will struggle against Nottingham Forest in their upcoming match.

Sutton anticipates that West Ham will leave the City Ground without any points, asserting that Forest is too strong and consistent to be beaten by a West Ham side that is still trying to find its footing under manager Julen Lopetegui, who joined in the summer.

“West Ham achieved a good result against Manchester United last week, which could boost their confidence,” Sutton said.

“However, I still believe they were lucky to win that game.

It wasn’t just about the late penalty that secured their victory; United had the chances to be far ahead by halftime.

So, do I think the Hammers have turned things around under Lopetegui? Absolutely not.”

In contrast, Sutton praised Nottingham Forest for their impressive form this season, noting the balance of their team.

He expressed a personal connection to the club, mentioning that he was born in Nottingham and supported Forest as a child.

“Given their current performance, I might just revert to supporting them,” he added.

“You can label me a fair-weather fan if you like, but I have a fondness for Forest, and I enjoy watching Sherwood on iPlayer.

I also like woods, especially Chris Wood, who I think is one of the most underrated strikers in Premier League history. I predict he will score again, leading Forest to another win.”
