“Exploited”: Solanke gives blunt assessment of Aston Villa after netting two goals for Tottenham

Aston Villa were eliminated from the EFL Cup by Crystal Palace midweek, while Tottenham defeated Manchester City, making a bold statement to the remaining teams.
Although Villa’s lineup against Palace was heavily rotated, the defeat still highlighted their defensive weaknesses.
Villa have conceded 15 goals across their first ten Premier League games, managing just one clean sheet; only seven teams have allowed more goals, all of whom are in the bottom half.
Last season, Aston Villa won away at Tottenham, with Unai Emery’s side coming from behind to claim all three points.
However, this time, it was Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham who came out on top, with Dominic Solanke playing a key role.
Dominic Solanke Says Tottenham ‘Exploited’ Aston Villa
The first half was relatively balanced, with Villa capitalizing on Tottenham’s struggles with defending corners.
Morgan Rogers gave Villa the lead, but the dynamic changed entirely in the second half.
Solanke shared that Tottenham had to adapt because Villa was making it “quite difficult” for them, as he explained to Sky Sports Premier League (03/11/24 at 4:00 pm).
When asked about Tottenham’s adjustments, Solanke responded, “I think it’s adapting a bit. It was quite difficult in the first half.
But, at half-time, we had time to regroup and discuss what we could do better, and we exploited that in the second half.”
