Opinion: Lopetegui’s Rift with Two West Ham Stars is Taking a Toll on the Fans

Julen Lopetegui has struggled to impress West Ham fans since his arrival at the London Stadium.

Recently, a well-known journalist suggested that a well-managed club would already be considering replacements for the Spaniard.

Rumors have even emerged that Lopetegui is on the verge of being sacked, with Edin Terzic being touted as his potential successor.

The coming weeks will be challenging for West Ham.

After the international break, they face a crucial match against Everton, followed by tough fixtures against Newcastle and Arsenal.

Many fans, myself included, believe Lopetegui may not have a clear direction and should be replaced before things deteriorate further.

A significant issue this season has been Lopetegui’s strained relationship with two key players, which has impacted team performance.

From my perspective, recent incidents indicate growing tension behind the scenes at West Ham.

It appears that Edson Alvarez and Mohammed Kudus are particularly unhappy with Lopetegui.

Since September 25, these players have received three red cards between them, which I believe reflects their lack of respect for the manager.

Kudus’s actions in the game against Tottenham were reckless and unprofessional, and I don’t think they signify any passion for the game.

Similarly, Alvarez’s two red cards were the result of reckless challenges, and his apology on social media notably omitted any acknowledgment of Lopetegui, which speaks volumes.

It seems clear to me that Lopetegui’s relationship with these two players has broken down, and this disconnect is harming the team.

West Ham fans are the ones truly suffering as the club’s internal issues play out on the pitch.

There is clearly a lot that needs fixing at the London Stadium right now.

Some players appear to lack professionalism, and this attitude must change if West Ham hopes to achieve any success in the 2024/25 season.

The club needs unity and focus, with both players and management on the same page, to turn things around and get backon track.
