“No Disrespect” – Pundit Shares Two Managers He Preferred for West Ham Over Lopetegui

Frank McAvennie preferred Jose Mourinho or Thomas Frank for West Ham's manager role as David Moyes' summer replacement.

David Sullivan had multiple options when selecting a new West Ham manager, but a recent report suggests he passed over Ruben Amorim due to his lack of Premier League experience, ultimately choosing Julen Lopetegui instead.

West Ham’s season has been challenging, with only three wins in their first 10 games. Frank McAvennie recently shared which managers he would have preferred.

Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, McAvennie said: “Everyone wanted David Moyes out.

I get that it wasn’t always exciting to watch, but he got us results. Personally, I liked Mourinho.

He’s a winner, and I think he would have been a strong choice. He’s expressed interest, hasn’t he?”

McAvennie also admired Brentford’s Thomas Frank, saying, “Frank is brilliant, but it’s hard to say if he’d move from one London club to another.

No disrespect, but West Ham is a bigger club. Still, we need to give this new manager a fair chance.”

There has been strong fan reaction to the new head coach, with Lopetegui facing mounting pressure after a 3-0 loss to Nottingham Forest.

While West Ham have managed two wins in their last four matches, the impact of their five league losses has been significant.

The 5-1 defeat to Liverpool in the EFL Cup only added to the frustration.

Sullivan may have missed opportunities with managers like Frank, who seems settled at Brentford, and Mourinho, who appears content at Fenerbahce.

Firing Lopetegui after just 10 games would be chaotic, especially without a clear replacement in sight, making it likely the Spaniard will continue for now.

The situation leaves West Ham in a delicate position, with fans watching closely to see if Lopetegui can turn things around and meet expectations for the rest of the season.
