“Growing Frustration” | Julen Lopetegui running out of excuses for West Ham’s poor form

West Ham fans are growing increasingly frustrated, and reports suggest the board’s patience is wearing thin as well.

The team’s 14th-place position is concerning, but it’s the poor performances that have particularly angered fans.

James Jones, speaking to the BBC, acknowledged there are some reasons behind this disappointing start.

“I initially accepted that we were in a transitional season, with many factors making a rough start understandable: a new manager, a new style of play, nine new players to integrate, and a new club captain,” Jones noted.

“There has been significant change, so I accepted that things wouldn’t immediately go as hoped.

I remained hopeful that, with time, Lopetegui could turn things around.”

However, Jones now feels these struggles may not just be temporary issues. “He keeps asking for consistency but doesn’t maintain it in team selection or tactics,” he said.

Adding to the tension, Jones mentioned that players seem visibly frustrated.

“We’ve already had three red cards this season, all stemming from players losing their heads or making reckless tackles,” he added.

Ultimately, Jones admits it may be “still too early” to decide Lopetegui’s future, but he concedes that the decision point is fast approaching.
