Journalist suggests January transfer for Everton star following Sean Dyche’s recent actions.
Sean Dyche may be extra cautious with Jarrad Branthwaite to ensure he’s fit for a potential January sale, says Gavin Buckland.
Jarrad Branthwaite returned to training in mid-October following an injury sustained against Crystal Palace on 28 September.
However, he did not make a start for Everton until their 0-0 draw with West Ham on 9 November.
Analyst Buckland suggests that Sean Dyche may be avoiding risks with Branthwaite because the club plans to sell him in the January transfer window.
Buckland speculated on The Royal Blue podcast that Dyche might be under instructions or personally keen to ensure Branthwaite remains fit by January, anticipating potential interest in the defender.
“We want him fit in January, does that make sense?” he added.
Interest from major clubs, including Real Madrid, has fueled rumors about Branthwaite’s potential January move.
However, Buckland’s theory is likely speculative, as it seems counterintuitive for Dyche to sideline a key player while aiming to steer Everton clear of relegation.
Dyche is likely exercising caution with Branthwaite, especially after his recent setback, to avoid further injuries that could sideline him for the remainder of the season.
While this approach is prudent, it has not shielded Dyche from criticism.
Matt Jones notably criticized him for not starting the 22-year-old in Everton’s 1-0 loss to Southampton on 2 November.
In the meantime, Branthwaite has joined England’s international squad after helping Everton secure a clean sheet against West Ham in London.
