Leicester City Defender Suffers ‘Serious’ Injury Setback and Undergoes Surgery

Leicester City’s Young Defender Ben Nelson Begins Recovery After Injury Setback on Loan at Oxford United

Leicester City defender Ben Nelson has announced that he recently underwent surgery after sustaining a “serious injury.”

The 20-year-old has been on loan to Championship side Oxford United since the summer, following a season-long loan agreement from Leicester’s King Power Stadium.

Nelson had made eight league starts for Oxford this season, but he suffered the injury during the team’s last match before the international break against Hull City.

Updating fans on Instagram, Nelson expressed his disappointment, writing, “Gutted to have picked up a serious injury in my last game.

Was really enjoying every minute of playing but unfortunately, these things happen in football.

I have had surgery and I’m now on the road to recovery.”

While details on the nature of the injury are yet to be confirmed, it’s expected that Nelson will have a prolonged recovery period.

This stint with Oxford United marks Nelson’s third loan move, following previous spells at Rochdale and Doncaster Rovers.

He made his senior debut for Leicester’s first team last season, going on to feature in five Championship matches as the Foxes clinched the title under manager Enzo Maresca.
