‘This is Where Things Stand’: Journalist Reveals Dan Friedkin’s Plans for Branthwaite at Everton

Everton fans haven’t seen much of Jarrad Branthwaite this season due to recurring injuries, and the defender still isn’t back to full fitness.

Speaking exclusively to Everton News, journalist Graeme Bailey explained Friedkin’s strategy to keep Branthwaite until the summer and then persuade him to remain long-term with promises of new signings and a refreshed vision for the club.

“It’s an ongoing situation, and the links to Manchester United haven’t gone away. They remain interested, as do other big clubs,” Bailey said.

“Everton want to tie him down to a new deal. He’s now an England international and one of the most highly regarded young defenders in Europe.”

Bailey continued: “It’s very unlikely Branthwaite will leave in January. But as we approach the summer of 2025, Everton may be forced to act.

Friedkin wants to keep him until then and use promises of a new project to entice him—things like new signings, a likely change in management, and the move to the new stadium.

“With interest from clubs like Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Liverpool, it’s no surprise Branthwaite’s head might be turned.

But Friedkin is hoping Everton’s plans will convince him to stay.”

How Much Could Everton Get for Branthwaite?

If Branthwaite were to leave, it’s crucial for Everton to maximize their return.

A January departure seems unlikely, given financial constraints many clubs face midseason.

This could benefit Everton, as the summer will bring significant changes under the Friedkin Group, including the opening of the new stadium, managerial shifts, and a potential influx of signings.
