Paul Robinson Predicts Growing Interest in Sam Greenwood Amid Impressive Loan Spell
The 22-year-old forward, currently on loan at Preston North End, has made an impressive impact this season, scoring six goals and providing one assist in 17 appearances.
His loan deal runs until the end of the campaign.
Since joining Leeds United from Arsenal’s academy in 2020, Greenwood has made 37 senior appearances for the Whites but has been loaned out twice in the last two seasons.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Paul Robinson commented: “He has a bright future and is giving himself every opportunity.
When players go out on loan, it’s often because they aren’t getting game time or the manager doesn’t plan to use them.
“It’s up to him to gain first-team experience, play regularly, and prove himself to Leeds. He’s still very young and clearly talented.
With the way he’s performing at Preston, other clubs will be interested if Leeds decide not to keep him.
However, Leeds could also bring back a quality player into their squad.
“He’s doing exactly what’s expected of him on loan, which is precisely the purpose of the system.”
Despite his 37 appearances for Leeds, Greenwood has only managed one goal and has looked more comfortable and effective during his loan spells.
Leeds manager Daniel Farke already has several attacking options, including Wilfried Gnonto, Largie Ramazani, Joel Piroe, Dan James, and Mateo Joseph.
Given this depth, selling Greenwood in the future might be a logical decision for the club.
Fans will have to wait until the summer transfer window to learn Greenwood’s fate and whether his performances at Preston will lead to a return to Leeds or a move elsewhere.
