Tony Cascarino Questions Max Kilman’s £45m Value After Struggles in West Ham’s 5-2 Loss to Arsenal
West Ham defender Max Kilman was at fault for Arsenal’s fourth goal during their 5-2 loss on 30 November.
Instead of staying on his feet and competing with Kai Havertz in a foot race, Kilman opted to lunge for an over-the-top ball, a decision that backfired.
Speaking on talkSPORT on 1 December, Tony Cascarino shared his views on Kilman’s form since joining West Ham. He remarked:
“Some of the signings haven’t even been available. West Ham feel like an easy team to play against. Initially, Kilman started really well, and I thought he’d be a great signing.
It’s not just about the goal he conceded yesterday, but he hasn’t reached the levels expected of a £45 million player.”
While Kilman’s performances have generally been solid this season, his display against Arsenal was his worst in a West Ham shirt.
He played a role in at least two of the goals his team conceded, raising concerns about his consistency.
Despite the setback, Kilman has been one of West Ham’s most promising summer signings.
Fans have been pleased with how he has bolstered the team’s defensive setup, showcasing his quality and justifying his signing earlier in the season.
However, Saturday’s errors highlighted his vulnerability to occasional lapses in judgment.
