His approach, which emphasizes the intense, high-pressing style seen at Red Bull Salzburg, is well-known.

Jaissle’s teams are known for applying constant pressure on the opposition, trying to win back possession as quickly as possible after losing it.

But is Jaissle the right choice for West Ham?

Jaissle, born in Germany in 1988, began his playing career as a centre-back at Hoffenheim but retired in his mid-20s.

His coaching career started in 2017 with Brondby, followed by a role as Red Bull Salzburg’s under-18 head coach.

By 2021, he was promoted to the senior team, where he won two consecutive Austrian league titles. In 2023, he took charge of Al-Ahli, where his performance has been impressive.

Under his leadership, Al-Ahli has gone on a six-match unbeaten streak in both league and AFC Champions League play, including setting a club record for the longest winning streak in the competition.

Jaissle’s record speaks for itself, but it is worth noting that he has yet to prove himself at the highest levels of European football.

While he has achieved success with Red Bull Salzburg and Al-Ahli, the Premier League represents a step up in competition, and taking such a risk might be unwise for a club like West Ham, which is already underperforming and facing growing pressure.

For now, appointing Matthias Jaissle could be too big of a gamble for West Ham.
