Neal Maupay once again drew the ire of Everton fans with his recent social media post on X (29 December), where he mocked his parent club following their 2-0 loss to Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

Former boxing champion and passionate Everton supporter Tony Bellew didn’t hold back when speaking about Maupay on talkSPORT (30 December, 14:39).

“It’s not the nicest thing to be done by a player on the payroll,” Bellew began.

“You don’t hear a murmur out of the little squeak, that little weasel, when we’re doing well. It’s very sad; he’s an attention seeker.”

Addressing Maupay directly, he added: “While you were at Everton, the last thing you did was play football. You were useless.”

By now, his antics have arguably garnered him more attention than his footballing performances.

Currently on loan at Marseille, the 28-year-old still belongs to Everton after leaving Goodison Park late in the summer transfer window.

Maupay’s tenure at Everton was underwhelming, with just one goal scored and little affection from the Gwladys Street faithful.

This strained relationship sheds light on his apparent bitterness toward the club.

At Marseille, Maupay has managed two goals in 12 appearances across all competitions—double his Everton tally.

Meanwhile, Iliman Ndiaye, who joined Everton in an unrelated move, has been a standout performer for Sean Dyche in a squad starved of attacking options.
