Report: Ange Postecoglou Has Identified Tottenham’s Target Following Destiny Udogie’s Injury

Tottenham’s manager is now facing a growing injury crisis ahead of their match against Newcastle on January 4, with nine players unavailable.

Destiny Udogie joins the list of Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Rodrigo Bentancur, Ben Davies, Richarlison, Mikey Moore, and Wilson Odobert, all of whom are either injured or suspended.

With the January transfer window now open, Spurs are in a position to make a move to replace Udogie.

It appears they have already set their sights on a target: Lecce defender Patrick Dorgu.

According to Give Me Sport, Tottenham had considered signing a left-back in the summer but opted to wait.

However, Udogie’s injury has now forced them to act quickly.

Dorgu, a 20-year-old Danish international, was previously on Tottenham’s radar last summer, although they did not submit a formal offer.

He is also being tracked by several other top clubs, including Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Napoli, and AC Milan.

The defender is expected to cost around £30 million, with his contract with Lecce running until 2029.

GMS reports that Spurs’ manager, Ange Postecoglou, is now hoping to convince Daniel Levy to secure Dorgu as a replacement for Udogie, given the extent of the injury.

Udogie is expected to be out for six to ten weeks with a hamstring injury, as confirmed by Paul O’Keefe.

This could see him miss up to 13 matches, including crucial fixtures against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup semi-finals, the final two Europa League group stage matches, and league encounters against Arsenal, Manchester United, and Manchester City.
