“Go for it” – Kinský on Mentor Radek Černý’s Advice About Spurs Move

Antonín, our new number 31, joined us on Sunday from Slavia Prague, where he spent four years under the guidance of our former player Radek Černý.

Known as Toni, he shared that Radek encouraged him to “go for it” when discussing the opportunity to join the Club.

Radek Černý, a former goalkeeper, was with us for three years.

Initially arriving on an 18-month loan from Slavia Prague in January 2005, his stay was extended until 2008.

During that time, he made 28 appearances, competing with Paul Robinson for the number one spot.

Radek was also part of the team that lifted the League Cup in 2008.

After leaving us, he spent five years at QPR before returning to Slavia as a goalkeeper coach, where he mentored Toni.

Toni explained, “I didn’t have much time to speak about the move (to Spurs) with others because we had a break in the Czech league.

The coach was probably on vacation, and I didn’t want to interrupt. But today, I spoke with him.”

“He had only good things to say about Spurs and told me to go for it. He’s a great guy, and his opinion was important to me.

Radek was my goalkeeper coach at Slavia for four years when I wasn’t out on loan—a fantastic coach and person.”

Radek’s influence and encouragement played a key role in shaping Toni’s decision to embrace this exciting new chapter.
