With pitchers and catchers set to report to spring training in just over two weeks, the Boston Red Sox seem poised for potential moves in their roster. According to a report by Jon Heyman from The New York Post, the Red Sox are actively considering bringing back veteran outfielder Adam Duvall. The Los Angeles Angels have also shown interest in Duvall, but they recently secured outfield depth by signing former New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Hicks to a one-year deal.
Hicks, aged 34, spent over seven seasons with the Yankees before being released in May of the previous season due to a challenging start. Subsequently, he joined the Baltimore Orioles, playing 65 games and concluding the 2023 season with a batting average of .253, eight home runs, 36 RBIs, and six stolen bases.
The Angels, seen as the primary competition for Duvall, have opted for Hicks, potentially making it more straightforward for the Red Sox to re-sign Duvall. Bringing back Duvall would add another dependable option to the Red Sox’s outfield. His performance in the previous season, his first with Boston, demonstrated his ability to contribute power to the lineup, finishing with a .247 batting average, 21 home runs, and 58 RBIs.
