West Ham in ‘Intensive Talks’ to Sign Striker as Club Seeks to Offload ‘Big Earner’ – Report

The German outlet reports [14 January] that West Ham are highly interested in the 29-year-old striker, with the Bundesliga club eager to offload their “big earner” before 3 February.

Graham Potter has inherited a challenging situation at the London Stadium, with Niclas Füllkrug sidelined for three months [Jack Rosser], Jarrod Bowen injured, and Michail Antonio recovering from a car accident.

Despite scoring three goals in a 3-2 victory over Fulham on 14 January, the Hammers remain desperate for reinforcements in attack.

Although the new manager may not view a striker as an immediate priority, the injuries leave a depleted forward line consisting of Mohammed Kudus, Tomas Soucek, Carlos Soler, and Lucas Paqueta, three of whom scored in the win.

The victory propelled West Ham 10 points clear of the relegation zone and within two points of the top half of the Premier League table—a stark contrast to their struggles under Julen Lopetegui.

West Ham need a player who can deliver immediate results, and Silva doesn’t appear to fit the bill.
