Manager responds to transfer inquiry regarding West Ham-linked forward.
Marco Silva firmly states that Fulham will not sell Rodrigo Muniz during the transfer window, despite interest from West Ham.
Jacob Steinberg reported on 16 January that West Ham were exploring a loan deal for Rodrigo Muniz, potentially including a £30 million obligation to buy.
This followed discussions at The London Stadium, as manager Graham Potter seeks to bolster his attacking options amid injuries to Jarrod Bowen, Michail Antonio, and Niclas Füllkrug.
However, it appears the Hammers will need to shift their focus elsewhere.
Fulham manager Marco Silva stated via the Daily Mirror (17 January, page 56), which also highlighted West Ham’s interest: “We are not open to anything regarding Rodrigo, and it’s better no one contacts us.
There’s no chance to even begin talks. He has all the qualities to be our number nine for many years.”
The news that Muniz is unavailable will come as a setback for West Ham, as he could have been a valuable addition.
The 23-year-old has played second fiddle to Raúl Jiménez this season, making 20 Premier League appearances but only starting five matches.
Despite limited minutes, Muniz has registered three goals and an assist, hinting at his potential impact with more game time.
Fulham’s reluctance to let Muniz leave is understandable, given Jiménez is 33 and Muniz could serve as his long-term successor.
While a loan move could benefit both clubs—offering the striker more opportunities and addressing West Ham’s attacking woes—it seems unlikely.
With Muniz off the table, Graham Potter must urgently identify alternative options to strengthen his attack, as securing a striker remains essential during this transfer window.
