Ange Postecoglou reiterates familiar Tottenham excuse as pressure mounts following Everton defeat.

Ange Postecoglou has promised to turn things around after Tottenham suffered a 3-2 defeat to Everton, intensifying the pressure on the manager.

Goals from Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Iliman Ndiaye, and an unfortunate own goal by Archie Gray handed David Moyes his first win since returning as Everton’s manager.

Everton were 3-0 up by halftime, though they nearly allowed Spurs to come back late in the game.

Dejan Kulusevski pulled one back for Tottenham after a mistake from Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, and Richarlison added a second in injury time following an excellent cross from teenage talent Mikey Moore.

However, despite their late push, Tottenham could not overcome the deficit, with Postecoglou reflecting on a poor first-half performance.

“It’s a tough result,” the under-pressure Spurs boss told Sky Sports. “We struggled to get into the game in the first half, which allowed Everton to gain momentum.

We left ourselves with a mountain to climb, and while the players fought to get back into it, we ultimately fell short. We just couldn’t take control.

We struggled with both the ball and without it, which allowed them to break through.

We had some early chances that we should have capitalized on, but in the end, it wasn’t enough.”

Postecoglou, who has frequently spoken about Tottenham’s injury troubles this season, reiterated the impact of their crisis.

“We’re really stretched right now,” he said. “We had just 11 fit players available for the game.

We weren’t able to maintain full control of our structure, and Everton took advantage of that. We paid the price for it. Radu Dragusin had to come off with a deep cut.”

Despite the challenging result, Postecoglou remained optimistic. “In the second half, we had our share of the game,” he continued.

“We came out strong, and I thought Richarlison made a real difference. Mikey Moore gave us something on the left as well.”

The loss leaves Tottenham in 15th place in the Premier League, just eight points above the relegation zone.

However, Postecoglou is confident that the team can improve despite increasing calls for him to be dismissed. When asked if he was losing faith, he firmly responded: “No, not at all.

Looking at our situation, I believe we can turn it around. We’ll keep pushing to find consistency in our performance and results.

I haven’t lost my belief or determination, and the players showed in the second half that they haven’teither.”
