Leicester City Transfer Updates: Goalkeeper Targeted and Cut-Price Midfielder Deal in Sight

Leicester City are making moves in the January transfer window as they aim to bolster their squad and reignite Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s bid to avoid relegation.

The Foxes are in a dire run of form, having suffered seven consecutive league defeats, including back-to-back losses at home to Crystal Palace and West Ham last week.

The club has already secured the signing of right-back Woyo Coulibaly from Parma in a deal worth around £3 million, but more transfers are expected to follow.

At the same time, several current players could be on their way out of the King Power Stadium.

Edouard Update

Leicester’s transfer plans could gain significant momentum as MLS club Atlanta United has reportedly submitted a £15 million bid for striker Odsonne Edouard.

The forward has not played a single minute under Ruud Van Nistelrooy, and there seems little justification for keeping him for the rest of the season.

His departure would also free up a Premier League loan slot for Leicester, as clubs are allowed only two loans from other league rivals at any given time.

The other slot is currently occupied by Facundo Buonanotte.

Moder on the Radar

Leicester City are reportedly competing with Everton to secure the signature of Brighton midfielder Jakub Moder.

According to CaughtOffside, Brighton is open to cut-price offers for Moder, whose contract expires this summer.

It is believed that bids in the range of £2 million to £3 million could suffice. However, Dutch champions Feyenoord are also reportedly interested.

Moder has endured a challenging period, having been sidelined for 18 months following an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury sustained in April 2022 during a game against Norwich City.

Goalkeeper Interest

Both Leicester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers have been linked with Serbian goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic.

The 32-year-old, currently playing for Leganes in La Liga, has impressed this season, including clean-sheet victories over Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.

Dmitrovic previously played in England with Charlton Athletic in 2015 and more recently had stints with Sevilla and Eibar in Spain.

He joined Leganes on a free transfer last summer and has been a key figure in their fight for top-flight survival.

Leicester, meanwhile, has struggled for consistency in goal this season.

Mads Hermansen, Jakub Stolarczyk, and Danny Ward have all featured, with Daniel Iversen also available as an option for Van Nistelrooy.
