While a crucial win over Tottenham Hotspur has lifted them out of the relegation zone, it hasn’t masked the deeper issues within Ruud van Nistelrooy’s squad.

A significant winter transfer window seemed necessary for Leicester to mount a serious survival push.

However, with less than four days remaining in the window, they have managed to sign just one player.

Adding to their woes, reports suggest that Leicester will only bring in loan players from abroad if additional signings are secured.

Leicester City’s decision to sell Tom Cannon makes little sense

Bringing in a player on loan isn’t inherently problematic, but it raises a major question—why did Leicester sell Tom Cannon?

Supporters were outraged when Cannon was recalled from a successful loan spell at Stoke City only to be sold to Sheffield United.

Some of that frustration eased when Van Nistelrooy hinted that Leicester would reinvest the transfer fee to strengthen the squad.

The Blades paid around £10 million for Cannon, which should have bolstered Leicester’s transfer budget.

However, with the club now only pursuing loan deals, fans are understandably baffled by the decision to let Cannon leave permanently.

Leicester’s fanbase has already directed significant criticism at director of football Jon Rudkin for his poor recruitment decisions.

Who are Leicester City trying to sign?

To make matters worse, Leicester don’t appear close to securing any new arrivals this month.

Meanwhile, their squad could be further depleted, as striker Patson Daka is tipped for a departure.

His potential exit is seen as a move to ease Leicester’s concerns over Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), but it would leave them even more short-handed in attack.
