Brighton’s Evan Ferguson passes medical ahead of West Ham loan move

Evan Ferguson has completed his medical ahead of a loan move from Brighton to West Ham.

The striker, who attracted interest from Chelsea and Everton, will join West Ham until the end of the season.

The deal includes a loan fee and performance-related bonuses, including an incentive tied to West Ham avoiding relegation. The club will also cover his wages in full.

West Ham emerged as Ferguson’s preferred destination, despite late interest from Chelsea.

Everton and Tottenham had also pursued the Republic of Ireland international, but the opportunity to reunite with former Brighton boss Graham Potter was a key factor in his decision.

Bayer Leverkusen had made a strong push for Ferguson last week as a replacement for Victor Boniface.

However, when Boniface’s move to Al Nassr collapsed, the Bundesliga side withdrew from the race.

West Ham are now finalizing terms for a straight loan deal for the 20-year-old.

Ferguson made a major impact when he scored a hat-trick against Newcastle at the start of last season at just 18 years old.

At the time, he was likened to Premier League legend Alan Shearer, and his future appeared bright.

However, injuries have hampered his progress, including a six-month layoff due to an ankle issue.

Under Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler, he has made just two Premier League starts this season.

Meanwhile, West Ham scouts watched £30m-rated Eli Junior Kroupi score his 10th goal of the season in Lorient’s 2-1 win over Red Star, though their bid has since fallen through.

The club has also considered Celtic’s 18-year-old striker Daniel Cummings, but only as a potential summer signing.
