Leicester City signed Danish goalkeeper Mads Hermansen from Brondby on a five-year deal for an undisclosed fee, aiming to fill the long-vacant spot left by Kasper Schmeichel. Now, it’s safe to say they’ve found their man.

Despite Leicester’s struggles in the league and their high number of conceded goals, Hermansen remains a dependable presence in goal and is unquestionably the club’s first-choice shot-stopper.

So far this season, Leicester have conceded 53 goals in the Premier League, with Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side suffering some heavy defeats.

One such loss came against Newcastle in December, a game where a player Hermansen admires—Alexander Isak—managed to score past him.

Hermansen’s Admiration for Isak

Isak has arguably been the best striker in the Premier League this season.

The Swedish forward has been sensational for Eddie Howe’s Newcastle, establishing himself as one of Europe’s top strikers and attracting interest from elite clubs.

His performances haven’t gone unnoticed by Leicester’s goalkeeper.

In an interview with the Premier League, Hermansen was asked to pick three essential Fantasy Premier League players.

His selections? Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Isak. Speaking about the Swede, he praised: “He’s just been so good so far, and I think he will keep going.”

Isak: The Striker Who Could Have Been a Fox

Interestingly, Isak could have ended up playing for Leicester instead of scoring against them.

Back in April 2016, as Leicester neared their historic Premier League title, they scouted Isak at AIK. At just 16 years old, he had already broken into the first team and scored twice in four matches.

However, a move never materialized, and now Isak continues to find the net—just not in Leicester’s favor.
