David Moyes Reflects on Everton’s Progress After Beto’s Misses in Brentford Draw

David Moyes expressed disappointment that Everton did not secure a victory at Brentford but acknowledged that such frustration highlights the team’s progress.

Under Moyes’ leadership, Everton has enjoyed an impressive run, extending their unbeaten streak to seven Premier League matches.

Jake O’Brien’s late diving header salvaged a point in west London, further solidifying the team’s resurgence.

This turnaround, the club’s best form since 2017, has lifted them from the brink of relegation to midtable safety within six weeks—despite being plagued by injuries.

Even with several key players sidelined, Everton showed resilience, bouncing back after Yoane Wissa’s first-half goal to claim another crucial point.

Speaking after the match, Moyes praised his team’s determination but admitted that missed opportunities cost them the win.

Reflecting on three squandered one-on-one chances by in-form striker Beto, he said:

“Looking back, we are disappointed not to take all three points. We created the biggest and best chances in the game.

The goal we conceded was very poor, coming from a long throw right before half-time.

When you play Brentford, you know that’s one of their strengths. We prepared well and were organized, but we still conceded in that manner.

“In the second half, the players were fantastic, and we probably should have edged the game.”

When asked if his frustration at drawing reflected the team’s rapid improvement, Moyes agreed.

“I think the team is playing really well. They are trying to play, and while we’re not getting everything right, the effort is there. We’re creating chances.

Beto had three clear one-on-ones, and if we’re honest, he’s usually clinical in those moments. But credit to their goalkeeper, who made some fantastic saves.

“In the end, we’re just a little disappointed not to take all three points.”
