Report: Leicester City star left out of national squad after manager’s shocking decision

Denmark Boss Confirms Leicester Star’s Omission

Denmark has a strong presence in Leicester’s squad, with Mads Hermansen, Jannik Vestergaard, and Victor Kristiansen all representing the nation.

Denmark, a semifinalist at Euro 2020 and a quarterfinalist at Euro 2024, continues to be a competitive force in international football.

Denmark’s national team coach, Brian Riemer, revealed in an interview with Tipsbladet that he had spoken with Kristiansen about his omission.

“It was a tough conversation for me,” Riemer admitted. “I believe he deserves more, but this was purely a tactical decision.

I don’t want five full-backs in the squad, and the selected players fit the profile I need.”

Despite the disappointment, Riemer praised Kristiansen’s professionalism. “He handled it well, like a true professional.

Of course, he disagreed, but he understood my reasoning.”

Kristiansen’s Place at Leicester Also Under Threat

Kristiansen has faced little competition for his position for much of the season, but that may soon change.

Luke Thomas’ resurgence, coupled with Kristiansen’s struggles against Chelsea, has created uncertainty around his place in the starting lineup.

Additionally, Leicester boasts several versatile defenders, including Woyo Coulibaly, Ricardo Pereira, and James Justin, all of whom are capable of playing at left-back.

For Van Nistelrooy, having multiple defensive options at this stage of the season is a major advantage. However, for the young left-back, the pressure is mounting.

If Kristiansen fails to elevate his performances, he risks losing his spot not only at Leicester but also inthe Danish national team.
