Levy Personally Targets “Incredible” Manager as Potential Postecoglou Successor at Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy is considering a move for Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola, who has emerged as his top choice to take charge at Hotspur Way if Ange Postecoglou is dismissed at the end of the season, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed.

Spurs supported Postecoglou during the winter transfer window, bringing in Mathys Tel on an initial loan deal that includes a £45 million purchase option following successful negotiations with Bayern Munich.

Additionally, Antonin Kinsky and Kevin Danso arrived midway through the campaign.

However, Tottenham remains in the bottom half of the Premier League, and tensions have risen, with Postecoglou clashing verbally with fans after a recent defeat to Fulham.

Iraola Identified as Spurs’ Leading Candidate

Levy has pinpointed Iraola as his preferred successor should Postecoglou depart, according to GMS sources.

Early contact has been made, even as Bournemouth plans to offer the Spaniard a contract extension to keep him at the club.

Iraola is reportedly open to the idea of managing Spurs, fueling confidence within Tottenham’s hierarchy that they can lure him away.

However, Bournemouth will fight to retain him, with owner Bill Foley preparing for direct discussions to clarify his long-term goals.

As first revealed on the Market Madness podcast, the Cherries plan to offer Iraola an improved contract to resist Spurs’ interest.

Appointed in June 2023, Iraola has impressed with Bournemouth, earning praise from Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, who called him “incredible.”

His side remains in contention for European qualification and FA Cup success despite their recent Premier League loss to Brentford.

GMS sources previously disclosed that Iraola’s contract includes a release clause exceeding £5 million.

This means that if Bournemouth fails to persuade him to sign a new deal soon, Tottenham could activate the clause and force the club’s hand.

Silva and Frank Considered as Alternatives

Alongside Iraola, Spurs have shortlisted Fulham’s Marco Silva and Brentford’s Thomas Frank as potential managerial targets, GMS sources indicate.

Both managers have release clauses in their contracts, making them viable options if Tottenham opts for a change.

However, Postecoglou’s future will only be decided at the season’s end as the club continues to plan for potential succession.

Postecoglou has attributed Tottenham’s struggles to an ongoing injury crisis, and key decision-makers within the club acknowledge the impact of absent players.

Despite this, his long-term future is uncertain, and remaining in charge next season is not guaranteed.
