Pundit criticizes ‘confused decision-making’ as Ruud van Nistelrooy struggles at Leicester City.

Chris Sutton has joined the growing criticism of Leicester City, calling their poor performances “sad” and arguing that dismissing Steve Cooper was a mistake.

Speaking on BBC 5Live, the former Chelsea and Celtic striker discussed the struggles of both Southampton and Leicester.

While Southampton sit at the bottom of the Premier League with just nine points and are certain to be relegated, Leicester remain nine points from safety with only nine games left.

Sutton reacted to their latest 3-0 defeat to Manchester United.

“I’d have given up being angry a long time ago,” Sutton said. “I’d have just started supporting somebody else because they’ve been so desperate.

Southampton have been terrible for a while now. I watched parts of Leicester’s game against Manchester United, and I found it really dull—though not from United’s perspective.

“It’s actually sad to see how poor Leicester are and how far off the pace they’ve fallen, with a real lack of intensity.

We’ve talked about Leicester before on the Monday Night Club, where their fans expected them to be competing higher up the table.”

Sutton repeated his belief that replacing Cooper with Ruud van Nistelrooy was a mistake. When asked if Leicester were right to sack Cooper, he responded, “I didn’t think so.

This isn’t a criticism of Ruud van Nistelrooy, but rather the muddled and jumbled thinking behind how he got the job.

“People can say what they like, but it seemed to be based on a couple of results against Manchester United.

Leicester have been bitterly disappointing, and they’re going togo down.”
