Exclusive: Liverpool set to make high-value bid for West Ham star
Liverpool have pinpointed a potential alternative to Alexander Isak for the summer transfer window, sources reveal to Football Insider.
Arne Slot remains determined to sign Alexander Isak as his top choice for a new striker, although Newcastle United are highly reluctant to sell the 25-year-old this summer.
Slot is eager to strengthen his attacking options after frustration with his current squad’s performance throughout the season.
Football Insider exclusively reported that Slot considers Isak the “perfect” signing for Liverpool and has identified him as their primary target ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
However, Newcastle’s asking price of £150million for Isak is a major obstacle, potentially forcing Liverpool to explore other options if they can’t meet this demand.
One alternative that has emerged is West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen.
During the latest episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Liverpool are contemplating a substantial bid for Bowen, who could serve as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah.
Bowen’s versatility, being able to play both as a winger and a central striker, has made him a key target.
The England international has long been on Liverpool’s radar, with reports from January 2022 indicating the club was keen to sign him.
Bowen remains an integral player for West Ham, but with the club likely to miss out on European competition, he may be tempted by a move.
Despite this, former West Ham scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Bowen is not interested in leaving the club, and West Ham have no intention of letting him go.
These developments come amid ongoing uncertainty over Mohamed Salah’s future at Liverpool.
The club has yet to finalize a new contract with the winger, and Football Insider reported on April 4 that, despite pushing for an agreement, talks have repeatedly stalled.
Although discussions are focused on finalizing the details of Salah’s contract, Liverpool aims to conclude the negotiations before the season ends.
This follows an earlier report from March, which revealed that talks had been delayed due to disagreements over the length of the deal.
