West Ham eye move for Spanish striker with 22 goals this season – report

West Ham United have endured a disappointing Premier League campaign and currently sit 16th in the table, with struggles at both ends of the pitch contributing to their poor form.

The Hammers’ striker situation has been turbulent all season.

Michail Antonio and Niclas Fullkrug have missed large portions due to injury, while Evan Ferguson has only made one start since arriving on loan from Brighton in January.

As a result, manager Graham Potter has made signing a striker his main priority for the upcoming transfer window and is considering several targets.

One of those targets is Porto’s Samu Aghehowa.

Potter is monitoring multiple options, but some deals could prove difficult. Liam Delap, for example, is reportedly on West Ham’s radar, but several other English clubs are also interested.

Lille’s Jonathan David is another name being tracked, though he too is attracting attention from clubs in Spain and Italy.

According to The Sunday People (April 13, page 49), Potter is now eyeing Aghehowa, formerly known as Samu Omorodion.

The Spanish forward was previously linked with Chelsea before joining Porto from Atletico Madrid, where he has since flourished.

Aghehowa would represent a strong signing for West Ham both now and in the future.

He was already highly rated at Atletico, and his form has soared since moving to Portugal.

The 20-year-old has scored 22 goals in 37 appearances this season, showcasing his finishing ability and physical attributes.

His combination of pace and strength makes him an ideal long-term successor to Antonio.

Stylistically, he fits well into Potter’s system, and if he’s open to a move to London, Aghehowa could offer the Hammers a much-needed boost in front of goal.
