Ange Postecoglou Addresses Whether Tottenham Have Begun Contract Talks with Heung-min Son as Captain Nears Final Year of Deal
Tottenham Hotspur triggered an extension to Heung-min Son’s contract earlier this season, keeping him at the club until 2026.
However, various reports in recent months have speculated that Spurs could look to sell the South Korean forward this summer, particularly as his performances have not quite matched his usual high standards.

Amidst all this speculation, Tottenham have now addressed the situation regarding Son’s future.
Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that the club has not yet opened negotiations with Son’s representatives over a new long-term deal.
He clarified that discussions about the forward’s future will take place after the season concludes, as part of the club’s broader summer plans.
When asked by Football.London if Son had been approached about a contract extension, Postecoglou responded: “Don’t think so. We triggered the extension.
Apart from that, no. I think all those things we will address at the appropriate time. I don’t think now is the time to look at that.”
It remains to be seen whether Tottenham will commit to Son beyond 2026 or consider alternative options moving forward.
