Vardy's Contract Set to Expire This Summer, Casting Doubt Over His Future
Jamie Vardy potentially moving from Leicester City to Wrexham is “crazy to think of,” according to Sky Sports pundit Lee Hendrie, who still believes the veteran striker can trouble defenders.
The 38-year-old is out of contract at Leicester this summer, and with the club seemingly set for relegation from the Premier League, his future is uncertain.
Despite City’s struggles, Vardy has scored seven goals in the top flight this season, after netting 18 goals last campaign to help Leicester win the Championship.
Meanwhile, Wrexham are pushing for promotion from League One and are currently in second place, with four games remaining.
If they succeed, they’ll be playing in the Championship next season.
Speaking to Football League World, Hendrie said: “Jamie Vardy, with the Wrexham links and Humphrey Ker reportedly interested, it’s crazy to think about—but he’s still capable of causing problems.
“Wrexham seem to be in a strong position to reach the Championship.
Vardy knows that level well, and he’s still got that burst of pace and intelligence. He offers something different that could really benefit them.”
While Vardy’s age might be a concern, Hendrie doesn’t think it would be a bad move. “For one season, it wouldn’t be a bad signing at all.
I think it would be welcomed and a good addition if it happens,” he added.
Vardy’s future remains a topic of speculation, but if Wrexham are promoted, a move there could be a remarkable twist in the striker’s career.
