Another high-profile addition, however, has failed to meet expectations—Max Kilman. Signed from Wolverhampton Wanderers for a reported £40 million, Kilman arrived with a reputation for consistent performances during his six-year stint at Molineux. That price tag brought with it considerable expectations.

Despite being a regular starter in the West Ham backline, Kilman has struggled to make a meaningful impact.

The team’s defensive record reflects poorly on the unit; excluding the three relegation-bound clubs, no Premier League side has conceded more goals than West Ham this season.

With Kilman featuring in every league match, he cannot escape responsibility for the defensive frailties.

His performances have not lived up to the expectations typically associated with a £40 million signing.

If Potter receives adequate funds in the summer, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the manager pursue a new central defender to strengthen the backline.
