Ally McCoist: Club to Sell £35m Tottenham Target

Ally McCoist has responded to rumors suggesting that Chelsea may need to offload Conor Gallagher amid interest from Tottenham Hotspur ahead of the summer transfer window.

Gallagher has recently showcased his talent with impressive performances, scoring three goals in his last two games, including a brace in Chelsea’s victory over Crystal Palace.

However, doubts linger over his future at Stamford Bridge as his contract approaches its final 18 months. According to reports from The Telegraph, Chelsea could be compelled to sell Gallagher during the summer transfer window due to contractual concerns.

Tottenham is reportedly eyeing a move for Gallagher if he does not extend his contract with Chelsea, with a potential transfer fee set at around £35 million.

McCoist expressed his discontent with the prospect of Chelsea selling Gallagher solely to comply with financial regulations, labeling it as “shocking” and suggesting it sends a negative message. He highlighted the disparity in treatment between homegrown players and others when it comes to balancing the club’s finances.

On the other hand, Tottenham appears poised to capitalize on the situation, considering Gallagher’s potential availability. Unlike Chelsea’s lavish spending in recent years, Spurs have been more restrained in their financial approach, making them keen to seize opportunities in the transfer market.
