“SHOCKER: Preston North End STEAL Leicester City’s 27-Year-Old STAR in JAW-DROPPING Transfer Coup!”

Preston North End Strike Deal to Sign Leicester City Goalkeeper Daniel Iversen, Sources Reveal

Preston North End are set to sign 27-year-old goalkeeper Daniel Iversen on a free transfer following a breakthrough in talks.

Iversen, who previously enjoyed two successful loan spells at Deepdale, is highly regarded by the club. The move comes after the departure of first-choice keeper Freddie Woodman.

Football Insider previously reported (24 April) that Manchester United were pursuing a surprise free transfer for Woodman.

During the 2024-25 season, he made 44 appearances in all competitions for Preston, keeping 17 clean sheets and conceding 48 goals.

Iversen, currently at Leicester City, has struggled for first-team action this season, making the bench regularly but without playing a single minute.

He has considerable Championship experience, having made 71 appearances during his previous stints with Preston, and has kept 29 clean sheets in 87 second-tier games.

The Danish international’s return adds valuable depth and experience to Preston’s goalkeeping options as they look to strengthen ahead of the new season.

In a separate development, Preston have also agreed a deal to sign midfielder Jordan Thompson from Stoke City, as reported by Football Insider (16 May).

The 28-year-old Northern Ireland international is set to join on a free transfer after his contract with Stoke expired. Thompson featured 26 times across all competitions for the Potters in the 2024-25 season.

The signings of Iversen and Thompson signal Preston’s intent to reinforce key areas of the squad as manager Paul Heckingbottom prepares for the upcoming campaign.
