On the latest episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke shared exclusive insights from his sources regarding Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in signing 23-year-old Vanderson during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Vanderson, who currently plays for AS Monaco, still has three years remaining on his contract with the Ligue 1 club.

Monaco are eager to keep hold of the Brazilian international despite growing interest from several Premier League teams.

Tottenham, preparing for their return to the Champions League, are actively looking to bolster their squad and have identified Vanderson as a potential signing.

However, a move may hinge on the future of current right-wing-back Pedro Porro, who has been the subject of transfer speculation ahead of the new season.

According to a Football Insider report dated 27 April, Tottenham are not prepared to let Porro leave easily, with chairman Daniel Levy reportedly ready to demand a substantial fee for the Spanish defender.

Former Tottenham scout Mick Brown added on 29 April that Manchester City are unlikely to pursue Porro this summer, a development that strengthens Spurs’ hopes of retaining him.

If Porro stays, Tottenham’s urgency to bring in another right-back like Vanderson may significantly diminish.

As O’Rourke explained, Spurs could ultimately shelve a potential deal for Vanderson, as the club prioritizes reinforcements in other areas of the squad.

“Vanderson has definitely been a player of interest for Tottenham in the past,” O’Rourke said. “He’s also been on the radar of various other Premier League clubs.”

He continued: “His future may depend on what happens with Pedro Porro.

Vanderson has impressed at Monaco and has international experience with Brazil. Given his contract situation, Monaco would likely demand around £25 million for him.”

“With Tottenham now qualifying for the Champions League, they’ll have increased funds and motivation to strengthen.

Vanderson remains a name on their shortlist, but he’s not seen as a top priority at this point.”

In addition to planning potential signings, Spurs are also facing potential exits.

On 23 May, Football Insider reported that Cristian Romero could depart the club amid reported interest from both Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.

Should Romero leave, Tottenham would enter the market in search of a new central defender.

This news comes in light of an earlier report on 21 April, which stated that the North London club could undergo a major squad overhaul this summer—potentially including Romero’s exit.

With Champions League football secured, Spurs are expected to be active in the transfer market, balancing reinforcements with managing key players’ futures.
