Leicester City have reportedly made an offer for 18-year-old striker Abdoul Karim Traore, who currently plays for French third-tier side Bourg-en-Bresse.

According to Foot Mercato, City and Belgian club Westerlo are the first to submit bids for the teenager, with further interest from across Europe expected following his breakthrough season.

Traore, born in Guinea, netted three goals in 17 appearances this term, including a brace on the final day.

This was his debut campaign at that level, and while his numbers aren’t eye-catching, it’s his potential that has caught the attention of scouts. With only a year left on his current contract, he is unlikely to command a high fee.

Striker recruitment is a key priority for Leicester this summer following the departure of Jamie Vardy. While Traore would not be expected to replace Vardy directly, he represents a long-term investment.

The club is likely to sign at least two new forwards, especially with Patson Daka entering the final year of his deal and potentially leaving during a summer overhaul.

Jordan Ayew could provide another option up front, but Jake Evans is more likely to feature on the wing.

The 16-year-old, who turns 17 in August, has made four senior substitute appearances, all out wide, despite also featuring as a striker in Premier League 2, where he reached double figures.

During their last Championship season, Leicester had four senior strikers: Vardy, Daka, Kelechi Iheanacho, and Tom Cannon. That depth proved useful amid injuries and international absences.

However, managing game time for all four proved a challenge for former boss Enzo Maresca, making it unlikely the club will opt for a four-striker setup again.

Overall, Traore is being viewed as a promising prospect rather than an immediate starter, as Leicester look to rebuild their attacking options.
