Several months ago, it was reported that Spurs initially paid €9.8 million (£8.1 million) to sign Bergvall, with an additional €9.3 million (£7.6 million) in potential add-ons linked to performance-related milestones.

Following Bergvall’s successful debut campaign — which included a Europa League triumph — Tottenham are now obligated to pay the full fee.

Djurgardens IF sporting director Bosse Andersson confirmed that all bonus clauses have been triggered.

Speaking to Fotbollskanalen, Andersson said: “I can confirm that all the bonus clauses have kicked in. Lucas has made great strides both in the Premier League and in Europe and featured in a significant number of matches.

What we expected to happen over several years has taken place very quickly.”

When asked whether this marks the biggest transfer in Swedish football history, Andersson responded: “I’m not sure, but it wouldn’t surprise me. If I had to give my personal opinion, I’d say we’re at the top.”

Bergvall backs Postecoglou amid speculation

In recent days, multiple Tottenham players have publicly voiced their support for head coach Ange Postecoglou as uncertainty continues to swirl around his future at the club.

Bergvall has now joined that chorus, stating his belief that Postecoglou fully deserves a third season in charge after what he has accomplished.

Regardless of whether the Australian manager remains in his role, Bergvall will be aiming to build on his breakout campaign.

With a full season of top-level football under his belt, the young midfielder is expected to push on even further in his second year in North London.
