Tottenham Receive Major Boost as Man City Set £25m Price Tag for Key Transfer Target
Tottenham Hotspur have already encountered several early hurdles ahead of the summer transfer window, with a few setbacks emerging before the market officially opens.
One of Spurs’ main targets, Johnny Cardoso, appeared close to joining the club for a fee of £21 million.
However, it has now been revealed that the midfielder prefers a move to Atletico Madrid over a switch to north London, dealing a blow to Tottenham’s plans.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have received mixed news regarding their pursuit of Manchester City midfielder James McAtee.
The club had made a late approach for McAtee during the previous window, but Pep Guardiola’s side was unwilling to sell the 22-year-old at the time. Now, however, City are reportedly open to parting with the player.
Simon Bajkowski has reported that Manchester City have given McAtee the green light to leave for a fee of around £25 million.
The player himself is said to be interested in a move to the Bundesliga, which presents both an opportunity and a challenge for Tottenham. While Spurs may now be able to negotiate for McAtee, they are not the only club in the race.
Several Bundesliga sides have already expressed serious interest in the England Under-21 international. Bayer Leverkusen, in particular, have been monitoring McAtee for some time.
Despite Xabi Alonso’s departure from the club, the interest has remained, with new manager Erik ten Hag—who previously discussed McAtee as a target during his time at Manchester United—also keen on the midfielder.
In addition to Leverkusen, other top German clubs such as Eintracht Frankfurt, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, and VfB Stuttgart are also reportedly tracking McAtee.
With such strong interest from Germany’s top tier and the player’s own preference for the Bundesliga, Tottenham may face an uphill battle to convince him to choose a move to the Premier League and make the switch to north London this summer.
