Newcastle United Face Setback in Pursuit of Right-Winger as Bryan Mbeumo Edges Closer to Manchester United Move

Newcastle United have already secured the signing of a new winger this summer, with 18-year-old Antonio Cordero set to join the club once his contract with Malaga officially ends.

The young Spaniard will sign a deal that runs until 2030, marking a long-term investment in his potential.

Initially, it was believed that Cordero would be loaned back to Malaga after signing with Newcastle.

However, that now seems unlikely following an emotional farewell message he shared on Instagram, casting doubt on a potential return to his boyhood club.

As reported by Newcastle World, Malaga confirmed Cordero’s departure before the player himself posted a heartfelt message to fans. He wrote:

“Here comes the day I never wanted to come! The time has come to say goodbye to all of you who have become part of my family since day one.

Unforgettable memories that I will always carry in my heart! We have tried but due to greater forces it could not be, and I am here to thank all those who made possible this dream, to play and enjoy for this great club! Also a special thank you to an amazing fan who always supported us through thick and thin! I hope one day we will meet again! I love you MALAGA ❤️!”

It’s an emotional exit for someone who was previously branded a ‘contract rebel’. If he had genuinely wanted to stay, the opportunity appeared to be there.

That said, it would’ve been nice to see a bit more enthusiasm for his new adventure in Newcastle.

Hopefully, fans will get a first glimpse of Cordero during pre-season. Still, it’s unlikely Eddie Howe will rush him into the senior squad unless Newcastle fail to bring in another right winger—something that can’t be ruled out with this club.

Despite the unusual circumstances, the focus now turns to Cordero’s development and what he can bring to Newcastle in the years to come.
